Hydroquinone

Hydoquinone 2% is an effective agent for helping to lighten hyperpigmentation and is particularly effective when used in conjunction with glycolic acid.

Since hydroquinone can be a potential “sensitizer” it is far more responsible to apply it only to the “spots” or areas that require attention as opposed to the entire face. The appropriate glycolic acid preparation can then be applied to the entire face over the hydroquinone.

On occasion, certain individuals may be using a prescription hydroquinone product that is higher than 2%. By using the products separately the patient can continue to apply the appropriate glycolic acid preparation over any hydroquinone preparation.
