FRAXEL^TM

FRAXEL^TM has recently been featured on The Today Show, The View, In Style Magazine, Self Magazine, and O, the Oprah Magazine.

Since 2006, Dr. Rasmussen has performed FRAXEL^TM , a type of  fractional photothermolysis laser skin resurfacing.  FRAXEL^TM has been developed to achieve moderate resurfacing with fewer side effects.  It works by delivering separate, spaced cores of skin coagulation.  Normal tissue is preserved between the cores, allowing rapid re-epithelialization (formation of new skin) and maintenance of normal skin appearance.

FRAXEL^TM addresses fine and medium depth wrinkles, uneven skin tones, and overall skin texture.  Discoloration in skin tone such as melasma, brown spots, and poikiloderma may be dramatically improved with FRAXEL^TM.  Skin texture will produce noticeable improvement of pore size, sebaceous hyperplasia and acne scarring.

The FDA has given official approval for the use of FRAXEL^TM  for the following indications:

• Skin texture resurfacing
• Treatment of periorbital (eyelid) wrinkles
• Photocoagulaiton of pigmented lesions, such as sun spots, age spots, dyschromia
• Melasma
• Acne and surgical scars
• Dermatological procedures requiring coagulation of tissue (keratosis)

Perhaps one of the most helpful characteristics of FRAXEL^TM  is that it can be used not only on the face, but also on other areas such as the neck, chest, and hands. Due to the paucity of sweat glands to provide healing, the neck, chest, and hands have been too risky to treat with other lasers  such as the CO₂ laser , or deep chemical peels; FRAXEL^TM fills that void. We consider this to be a major breakthrough for the successful results of the neck and chest areas.
